OK, it took some searching, but I found think I found the link I think
you are referring to (in
http://www.djangoproject.com/documentation/install/ , right?) Reports
like this are helpful, but it would be easier if you could point to
exactly where the problem is, since hunting it out takes a little longer
otherwise.

Anyway, thanks for pointing this out. I'll fix up the installation
document to be more accurate (there is just the one wrong link, as far
as I can see).

To be fair, option (c) is already implemented: The download page
discusses the difference between the "official" 0.91 tarball and the
development release and provides a way to download each. It explains the
lack of backwards compatibility and that the merge happened on 1 May
2006. All in the first section. I would hope that most people would be
able to recover from the slight error in the install document based on
this information. But causing unnecessary confusion is not the goal, so
we'll keep tweaking as the reports come in.
