from my understanding there is no opensource 'shopping cart' or
'product database' application
which you can just download and install.

but i'm sure if you want to sponsor one there will be a couple of
hands going up to do it.

what Jacob meant is that all the bits for you to build a eCommerce
site are available.. you just need to build the app.
