Is this going to wind up in a 1.9.x release or only land in 1.10 ?
I ask because it was marked as a release blocker before 1.9 was shipped,
so it makes some sense that it would appear in a 1.9.x release unless
there is some other reason for it to be 7 months away in 1.10.
