I've started to address some of the missing documentation aspects for this, here... https://github.com/django/django/pull/9072 I'll put in a bit more time tomorrow & friday and aim to make sure that it's reviewable by that point.
It's a bit of a tough one to have to review right up against the alpha deadline, so it's worth shouting out if there are any other obvious blockers that'd need resolving before being able to take a call on it.
