<context> How I approach event content is by thinking first on the story I want to tell (big picture), then I think of the ideas/topics that will support that topic and make them them the focus of each talk. I select proposed talks or think of who to invite to talk about each topic.
Then I think of the time we have in the conference, considering breaks, meals, etc.. Then I break down the time into chunks of 30 or 60 min, these will be my available talk slots. Then I match ideas with time slots and that's how I come up with an event agenda. For example, In an event I organized as part of my day-to-day job, I had the objective of providing my colleagues the knowledge that would help them understand first the impact of open source as an industry and then why open source is important for the company, I wanted them to see the value first. Then I wanted to give them tools to be good citizens in the space, so I ended with talks that refer to the specific experience on being a committer. I went from a big picture to an individual view. </context> I'd advise you check with Sharan & Shane how many talks we can dedicate to D&I and start from there, then think of the story you'd like to tell and select from the submitted talks, I'd recommend looking for topics areas we don't have submissions for and identify speakers we'd like to invite to cover those. *From: *Dinesh Joshi <djo...@apache.org> *Date: *Fri, 10 May 2019 at 14:46 *To: * <diversity@apache.org> +1 > > I don't really have a preference but getting together a list of speakers > and type of content we need would be a great first step.
