I'd like to request the creation of a committee reporting to the President of the Apache Software Foundation to work on Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. The purpose of this entity will be to house, govern and guide the Foundation's efforts on this important topic pursued by several organizations in the industry nowadays.
I'd like this proposal to be reviewed by the Board on its next meeting on Wednesday, 15 May 2019. Here's the formal request: WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to appoint a Committee responsible for diversity and inclusion matters, including but not limited to strategic planning and management of risks related to matters of diversity and inclusion.
