Hi Mehl, * Max Mehl [2017-12-05 15:31:20 +0100]:
Thanks for your interesting question.
just **hacking** :-D
# Giovanni Biscuolo [2017-12-05 12:28 +0100]:please are there any updates about the 2014-2019 policy goal "Consumer rights and device sovereignty" and in general about all 2014-2019 policy goals https://fsfe.org/activities/policy/eu/policy-goals.html ?Here are just a few pointer for first reads, please feel free to ask if you have further questions or want to have more info on specific issues: * Regarding device sovereignty we are constantly working on the Radio Lockdown Directive [1] which is endangering the users' freedom to load software on their radio-capable devices.
is it please possible to add this link https://fsfe.org/activities/radiodirective/ as a "Related campaigns" one on https://fsfe.org/activities/policy/eu/policy-goals/consumer-rights.html page? in general this kind of cross-references are self-explaining but if possible a short description of "why they are linked" could be very useful to better understand
There will be an update on fsfe.org with the latest proceedings in a few days.
fine: I hope it will be linked in a "Related news" section on the https://fsfe.org/activities/radiodirective/ page
* In Germany, we had a huge success with enabling consumers to use their own routers and modems to access the internet which wasn't legally guaranteed before [2].
same comments as before: please cross-reference question: what about to extend that freedom to all EU citizens?!? :-O I mean: what the EU commission or parliament are doing to extend this EU wide?
* DRM ("Digital Restriction Management") still is a huge issue for us although there is no actual movement on the EU level in this regard.
same comments as before: cross-reference above that cross-reference it would be also useful to *briefly* explain whyDRM is a _huge_ obstacle to device sovereignty
please: the fact that there is no actual movement on EU level (since when?) should be the subject of an official update from FSFE or drm.info, with a brief history of what was done and what is planned for the next future (if there are plans)
* Within the Commission's Digital Single Market strategy there's lots of issues which require our attention, and Polina Malaja, our Policy Analyst, is doing a great job defending users' rights. Our comments on DSM [3]
as above, could FSFE please cross-reference this on https://fsfe.org/activities/policy/eu/policy-goals/consumer-rights.html ?
from 2015 might give you good pointers to further readings * Mostly all our policy work aims to protect (Free Software) users' interests. Here's the latest news from this working area: [4]
ha ha: tags! sorry I did not saw them :-S OK so: please could FSFE tag "activities" too? It would be nice to find an "Activities" section in pages like this one https://fsfe.org/tags/tagged-policy.it.html also, please add a list of related "tagged news" and "tagged events" in "activities" pages like this one https://fsfe.org/activities/policy/eu/policy-goals/consumer-rights.html *maybe* a little refinement of taxonomies should help to better focus on the relations, but this could be a next step activity
By the way, with our recently launched "Public Money, Public Code" [5] campaign we've also drawn some attention by politicians in the whole EU.
I really hope this campaign will contribute to make the EU _and_ local policy makers realize they are _globally_ regulating in a **very** contradictory way
With freeing publicly financed software we hope to secure citizens' personal data on a large scale.
more on this would be totally off-topic here, so I refrain from comments :-) thank you for the updates ciao Giovanni -- Giovanni Biscuolo Xelera - IT infrastructures http://xelera.eu/contact-us/ **per favore** Quota Bene: http://wiki.news.nic.it/QuotarBene **please** use Inline Reply: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style#Interleaved_style
