Hi experts, can someone explain me how 'SDN via API' works practically ? If I understand correctly, SDN via APIs would work on legacy switches as well. In legacy switch, Control plane and Data plane would co-exists and required protocols would be running on the switch itself. If controller is connected to the switch to support 'SDN via API' then will the switch listens to controller or the protocol which is running on the switch locally ? The switch might get confused right ? If controller and control plane protocol running on the switch gives different action which one would be given preference ? Can someone explain me pls ?
