With no flows in the OVS, none of the packets go to err state. However, as soon as i insert some flow, after a certain traffic rate (1 million in my case), additional packets go to 'err' state. Why is that?
port 1: rx pkts=2873570624, bytes=?, drop=?, errs=?, frame=?, over=?, crc=? tx pkts=2882084096, bytes=?, drop=3144517160, errs=?, coll=? port LOCAL: rx pkts=0, bytes=0, drop=0, errs=0, frame=0, over=0, crc=0 tx pkts=5089045, bytes=305342700, drop=0, errs=0, coll=0 port 2: rx pkts=7987684360, bytes=511211800656, drop=0, errs=6454394673, frame=0, over=0, crc=0 tx pkts=49046613, bytes=3138983232, drop=0, errs=0, coll=0 You can see a lot of packets in 'err' in the above output. > From: kevin.tray...@intel.com > To: haristan...@hotmail.com > CC: discuss@openvswitch.org > Subject: RE: [ovs-discuss] OVS-dpdk Packet Error for rate beyond 1MPPS > Date: Wed, 2 Dec 2015 10:56:05 +0000 > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: haris tanvir [mailto:haristan...@hotmail.com] > > Sent: Tuesday, December 1, 2015 1:18 PM > > To: Traynor, Kevin > > Subject: RE: [ovs-discuss] OVS-dpdk Packet Error for rate beyond 1MPPS > > > > One more observation: > > I removed this flow > > > > in_port=1,priority=0,actions=FLOOD > > > > and inserted this one > > > > in_port=1,priority=0,actions=output:2 > > > > and my performance went from 1million PPS to 4million PPS. > > > > Again I insert the old flow back, i get 1 million performance.
