I have retried with CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=n, and its working fine.
Configuration of ovs is successful with only CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=y
set.

CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=y is not needed. I’ve just compiled DPDK
v1.7.1 and OVS head with CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=n, and it compiled fine.
It would be good if you could retry with CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=n to
confirm.

I was updating the `config/common_linuxapp` and setting
`CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=y` as mentioned in INSTALL.DPDK.md
But the problem was solved by updating both `CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=y`
and `CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=y`

I could build with DPDK on current master, following INSTALL.DPDK.
Could you make sure you updated the `config/common_linuxapp` and
set `CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=y` (listed in step 2 in
INSTALL.DPDK)?
If you missed this step, you will have the `cannot link with dpdk` error,

dpdk 1.7.1 is taken from the link dpdk.org/download
cloned the latest master code of openvswitch from github
We have verified that our NIC is supported with file
lib/librte_eal/common/include/rte_pci_dev_ids.h.
We have successfully build DPDK but we are getting following error in
configuring OVS:
checking target hint for cgcc... x86_64
checking whether make has GNU make $(1) extension... yes
configure: error: cannot link with dpdk.
Can anyone please provide some inputs for resolution of above error?
