I am looking for the correct way to use /etc/network/interfaces to create an openvswitch bridge/bond with a vlan. Using /etc/network/interfaces is important, because the order of start-up scripts is honoured and it is the Debian way to go. (the iscsi and kvm systems need a reliable shutdown and boot order). As work around I put everything in /etc/rc.local root@kimberly:~# cat /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh -e # # rc.local # # This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel. # Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other # value on error. # # In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution # bits. # # By default this script does nothing. ovs-vsctl del-port bond0 ovs-vsctl del-br ovsbr1 ifconfig eth0 up ifconfig eth1 up ovs-vsctl add-br ovsbr1 ovs-vsctl add-bond ovsbr1 bond0 eth0 eth1 bond_fake_iface=false\ bond_mode=balance-slb lacp=active other_config:lacp-time=fast\ bond_updelay=400 bond_downdelay=400\ ovs-vsctl set port ovsbr1 tag=2 ifconfig ovsbr1 up dhclient ovsbr1 /etc/init.d/open-iscsi start ### This will boot up my system correctly note: /etc/init.d/open-iscsi start Is something we do NOT want.
