The one unusual thing about NFS, among protocols generally, is that it
uses large UDP datagrams.  This means that NFS-over-UDP can sometimes
uncover previously hidden bugs in network systems.  Are you using NFS
over TCP or UDP?  If you're using it over UDP, please try it over TCP
instead.  (I think that NFS-over-TCP is generally preferred these days
anyhow for other reasons.)
