We have one in our lab with about 50TB of storage on it right now (four shelves, and I believe the breakdown is 1 shelf each of 450GB 15k FC, 300GB 15k FC, 500GB 7200rpm SATA and 1TB 7200rpm SATA, but I could be off). We purchased two shelves initially, and added two more later, which is why we have larger drives in the two newer shelves. We don't use it specifically for MS SQL -- in the lab it's used for everything from Oracle and MS SQL to VMWare, mostly through an IBM SVC. We would be very happy if the production data centers adopted Compellent -- we love the thing. Our database people were skeptical, but so far have been very impressed with the tests they've run against it (though, again, those are through an SVC, not direct to the unit). It's a pretty amazing piece of technology, and we often wonder why it took so long for a company to finally do it. It makes storage administration very, very simple, and it works very well. -Adam _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lopsa.org http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
