When I tried to install Chrome today (from www.google.com/chrome/
in Firefox on Windows XP), it

   1. Gave me a button to click to download the installer;

   2. Took me to a page with a EULA to agree to, and a ``Download
      and Install'' button;

   3. Took me to another page with installation instructions while
      Firefox popped up a dialog saying "You have chosen to open
      ChromeSetup.exe" with a button to save the file. The
      instructions tell you to open the download window in Firefox
      (Tools->Downloads), then double-click the installer there to
      start it.

That's the behavior I would expect to see (in Firefox). Maybe
Google has changed things? Or maybe your preferences are
different than mine? I don't really use this machine (it's there
in case I really have to use Windows for something), and it looks
like I haven't really done much of anything to the preferences.
