Well, I was kind of frazzled...because my flight into Manhattan was delayed....then a garbage truck backed into a powerpole that morning, knocking the power out to hotel overnight...so I slept in and it really bugged me all through the interview how icky I was feeling. So, apparently I didn't come across to well to the suits in the first part of the interviews.... It was also turned out to be one of the hottest, most humid summers.... I heard from lots of new hires grumbling about not knowing the weather would be the way it was before coming here. But, the other minions in the group, said I sounded like someone that really wanted to work there and that they wanted to work with me.... Of the 3 that were hired out of that search....I'm the only one here....one didn't really want to be here after a short while, after his finance decide she didn't want to move and broke up with him. (they sent him to training in Chicago for a week, he slipped out during lunch and interviewed with Citi...and gave 2 weeks notice when he got back) The other guy kept getting better offers and demanding raises, and we kept hoping that they wouldn't match and he'd go away. He was all into deploying new things into production and not worrying about how it'll break everything. In fact I'm looking at something he had wiped up that has stopped working again, and have no idea how I'm to fix it....yet. He also made significant improvements to our package management system, but didn't document or commit them anywhere....so they've been lost. He had made the threat to leave last summer for a better job....they gave him a big raise....and then he left anyways. A startup that lost its CEO shortly afterwards and is now trying to go in a different direction.... Oh...I still don't come across to well to the suits.... its pretty much just keep my mouth shut around them. They've also said we're way to casual down here, I'm and the one that's (usually) the least casually dressed. Though I think this was the only interview where I didn't wear a suit.... _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.lopsa.org https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
