NEC Laboratories America in Princeton, NJ is seeking an experienced systems administrator to manage the IT infrastructure of a research and development project in the Computing Systems Architecture department. This position is expected to be have a term of two years.
Job Responsibilities: The job responsibilities will largely pertain to a cluster of Linux servers. It will include (i) setting up and administering the cluster, (ii) managing cluster environments and virtualization infrastructure, including private cloud infrastructures, (iii) perform automated deployment, remote administration, repository management, hardware and software troubleshooting and network monitoring, (iv) recommend, implement and administer file/storage services for data management and disaster recovery purposes, (v) configure and troubleshoot cluster networking infrastructure (Infiniband, 10Gb Ethernet) and (vi) supporting cluster users. Responsibilities will also include finding innovative ways to manage the cluster using scripts and available tools and working with outside vendors to install, troubleshoot the software and hardware. Required Skills: We require 4+ years of experience in systems administration, a solid understanding of Linux flavors (Ubuntu, RHEL and Centos), cluster management tools, virtualization and network administration. Experience with installation and management of open-source cluster applications and middleware is necessary. The ability to work with virtualization technologies like KVM, Xen, VMWare, and private cloud infrastructures like Open Nebula and Eucalyptus is a strong plus. We prefer candidates that have some familiarity with HPC and cluster resource management solutions such as Torque or Condor. In addition, very good scripting knowledge, experience with backups and some familiarity with C/C++ or Java is favored. We require that all candidates have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must be proactive, exhibit a can-do attitude and work well in a small team.
