Poking around in the OpenWRT GUI I saw under Network -> Routing there
is an "IPv4 Rules" tab, in there are
4-rules I don't understand, I disabled them. And an IPv6 tab has
4-rules. I disabled them too.
Renamed the SSID to match my old hotspot…and it didn't work. Rebooted
the new hotspot…and it looks like it /is/ working.

P.S. My somewhat off-brand Android phone is willing to take its wifi
connection and use it to service its wifi own hotspot. Like money
laundering but for bits! Was handy for getting my notebook back on the
local network when I tried something that didn't work. Saved me making
my way to the other hot spot. Lazy, huh?
