I have been looking for possibilities to use Libre Office in real time measuring, testing and control applications. Normally special software packages are used for those applications. In industry SCADA-packages are often used to control processes and to present measured data. I think that there are also a lot of applications where the flexibility of LibreOffice Calc would make it more suitable. Especially in small projects. For example to search for a problem in a machine without making changes to the existing software.
Now i want to look if there are more people interested in this subject and perhaps to form a working group for it. Also it would be interesting, when you have an application for this, to hear about it. Myself i wrote a small example program in C++ in which i used UNO to make a real time connection between an Arduino microcontroller board and Libre Office Calc. The program is very short to put the functionallity as much as possible in Libre Office. The main function of the C++ program is to place a block of data from the Arduino in LO Calc and a block of data from LO Calc in the Arduino. Real time functions, for which LO Calc itself is not suited, could be programmed in a LO Basic Macro. On this moment functionallity for trend functions is still added to the C++ program. In real applications this program could be used with only small changes.
