- yum install devtoolset-8
   `. /opt/rh/devtoolset-8/enable`
   will bring you into the gcc 8.3 era.
- install cmake3 from EPEL will get you CMake 3.14.6

* You do know there's an 8 release now. Even CentOS 8.
and if you are still using a 7, it should be 7.7 these days.

This is just on a couple of old lappies running Fedora 21. I should upgrade. But, pain.
