I have tried to install with pybombs prefix init ~/prefix -a myprefix -R gnuradio-stable, where I read 'gnuradio-stable' refers to the maint branch. I had the same error. If I'm not running it correctly to get to the branch you'd like, let me know, and I'll try your way.
