Actually, the previous "grc" pre-dates GnuRadio Companion by several
years. And, it's a very-large open-source Universe, and
name collisions, particularly for 3-character names, are nearly
inevitable. There is no "controlling authority".
If you find yourself wanting to started Gnu Radio Companion manually,
just type:
gnuradio-companion
Into a terminal window.
