Hi Scott, I think this is OK because the two version strings are not automatically linked. I have the same version(s) as you do. The git version string is generated with respect to the latest git tag, which is "v3.3.1git"; however, it was apparently decided that the next release will be v3.4, the version string was updated but no new tag was made in git so the git tag is still v3.3.1.
>From the error message you posted in your previous mail, I really can't think of anything else than there is an old version of gnuradio installed and it takes precedence over the new version - maybe because it is installed in /usr/lib ?
