Does OSX support aio (async IO)?
Yes, an has for a long time so it's pretty robust (if only one can figure out how to use it). A newer addition is async & isochronous low-latency transactions, generally for streaming media which require a guaranteed throughput and as low-latency as possible. I tried these, as well as other means, but without queueing they're all about the same. - MLD
