I removed both 
/usr/lib/directfb-1.0.0/systems/libdirectfb_sdl.so    and 
/usr/lib/directfb-1.0.0/inputdrivers/libdirectfb_sdlinput.so
now the app starts without complain. 
However I'm still getting no keyboard event, so my problem must be somewhere 
else but I'm not sure where to look at yet.

Just delete `/usr/lib/directfb-1.0.0/systems/libdirectfb_sdl.so'.
