Thanks for the reply......

Yes i can see all the menu items like File , Edit...... Even  these
mentioned menu items recognise the mouse clicks ;
But only some of the drop down list  submenu items are not hifhlighted
during mouse movements over them, and hence they are inactive to any mouse
button click.

The cairo version i am using is cairo-1.5.4 .
