There are some limitations in ST hardware which a naively written PC biased DirectFB application will hit, resulting in limited or no acceleration. You might want to review the document attached to the following bugzilla entry: https://bugzilla.stlinux.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1152 This is specific to the open source implementation, but the hardware restrictions apply to the the STAPI version as well.
