That depends on the GTK DirectFB backend implementation. There are some
limitations in ST hardware which a naively written PC biased DirectFB
application will hit, resulting in limited or no acceleration. You might
want to review the document attached to the following bugzilla entry:

This is specific to the open source implementation, but the hardware
restrictions apply to the the STAPI version as well. Note that the open
source driver is being aggressively worked on at the moment, so is in a
number of areas ahead of the STAPI version in its functionality; do not
assume everything described in this document (primary layer config
extensions, the screen/mixer/encoder interface, the extra surface formats)
are necessarily available in the current STAPI offering.
