I want to label groups of connections on a plug, so something like
(ASCII art here) :-

         ( Con1
         | Con2
To LCD | Con3
Display < Con4
         | Con5
         | Con6
         ( Con7

Does that make sense?

I have produced an acceptable result using lines and small arcs but a
Dia object would be easier to use.
