Hi Norbert,

I am not quite sure whether you mean "object" to be what we call shapes, or
groups of entities (shapes and tools), or the just the tools, like ellipse,
text and rectangle. There is a lot of variety and the shapes have come
into being over many years, so there is a certain lack of uniformity in
their properties.

The Dia methods also have more freeform qualities than a CAD system, for
example. It is sometimes hard to get exactly what you want without
creating your own personal shapes. Dia is, if nothing else, very open and
flexible. Sometimes this is less efficient.

When I seek a uniformity of scale for shapes (created by many different
volunteers for differing purposes and with different opinions about how
they should be) I will use copy and paste to get multiple instances of an
exact appearance. I may even group an individual shape ti prevent
inadvertently changing the size of it.

With the tools, like Text for instance, if you double click on the tool
icon, you will get a window that is the default properties. If you set the
font to be 48pts there, then the next time you call for text it will be
48pts. This will persist into the next session of Dia.

Please, ask further question and be a little more specific. Exact examples
are good to make sure the right issue is addressed.

Mike
