Thanks Mike.
I'll take a peek at the python extensions. There is a group_props script that
almost does what I'm looking for but it does not recognize line objects. I'll
keep trying. Maybe I can cobble something together.
Cheers,Eric

Eric,
I have one large functional block diagram of a process where I wish that
connections could be maintained between layers. I thought about, but did not
make large scale copies as you suggest. Too time consuming to make changes.

I do segregate the various categories of the related item, such as I may have a
notes on a layer overlaying components into which I might put purchasing
information - part numbers, vendor, failure notes, installation notes, etc.

But wherever there are lines attached to shapes, I have to leave them on a
layer together.
Mike

Hi there.
Thanks for the response. Yes moving to a different layer breaks the
connections. Also making copies won't really help. My goal was to have a
dynamic chart that I could turn on and off the complexity as needed. I'll have
to see if I can reproduce the all the boxes and multiple layers and
interconnect at each layer of complexity. Then some how link all the boxes to
move in sync. It's not pretty but maybe that will work. Or maybe some how
changing the color of a group of connections to the background. I'll keep
trying.

Regards,Eric

You can move them to another layer. Select the items, hit ctrl-X activate the
layer you want to put them on and hit ctrl-V. I don't know if the connections
are maintained - probably not. You could turn them off though. This would be
useful for exporting parsed views.

You could also get back with undo's.
Another way is to create temporary sparse views is to copy the whole DIa to
another location or file (ctrl-C, ctrl-V), Then delete the parts you don't want
to see.

Hi there. Great tool!
Is there a way to selectively hide some of the lines/connections between
objects? It would be nice to hide some complexity or even show different
scenarios on the same diagram by switching layers or some other feature. Layers
do not work for this as you need both the boxes and lines on the same layer.

Thanks,Eric
