This looks exactly like what was recently put into bugzilla as
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662728
I've commented it there.
I don't know how many other people having the same problem, but this
should fix it.
If anyone is having this problem except on Ubuntu 11.10 that would be
interesting.
