Surely you want to it to be configurable.
For some documents you want the text to wrap so the object keeps its size.
For others you could just let the object grow.

Just looked at Visio.
Keep typing, the object maintains its width, auto-wrapping on spaces.
If a word is too long to fit the width, it just gets wrapped.
The object gets taller if you keep adding text to it.

Ie they give priority to the width of the object but allow its height to 
increase.

That's for a rectangle.
Diamonds (decisions) just keep their size constant.  The text behaves like for 
a rectangle, ie its width is constant but it'll spread above and below the 
diamond.
