I've added a fix to todays CVS that makes the text actually link, not just
compile.  So missing zlib should be caught.  I'm still confused by your
description, though -- the check for finite/isinf doesn't link, so the zlib
link problem shouldn't manifest there.  Have you tried to build a recent
CVS?
