This line stems from /usr/share/aclocal/intltool.m4: INTLTOOL_REQUIRED_VERSION_AS_INT=`echo $1 | awk -F. '{ printf "%d", $[1] * 100 + $[2]; }'` (from Debian sid intltool_0.18-1) I'm almost sure you have $1 and $2 instead of $[1] and $[2] in intltool.m4 or in aclocal.m4: perhaps you could try regenerating the latter ? -- Cyrille -- Grumpf.
