Hi Glen, Debian or Ubuntu are both fine choices. The one thing to be aware of is that modern Ubuntu turns on Wayland by default, and Wayland has issues that cause KiCad bugs / certain features to not work properly. In both cases, you will need to use a newer version of wxWidgets (3.2, the newer the patch release the better) than the stable version packages. For Ubuntu we provide these (including development packages) in our PPA. For Debian, you can get these from the unstable repos.
You can still use and develop KiCad on Wayland, but just be aware that some things don't work. -Jon On Tue, Jan 23, 2024 at 3:54 AM Levente <leventel...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > > I'm a KiCad user and a software dev.
