Are we interested in any systems without timer_gettime and friends? How do I answer questions like that? Do we have a list of the systems we are interested in?

The Linux man page says getitimer is obsolete. There is code to use it if timer_gettime isn't available. timer_gettime is in Linux, NetBSD and FreeBSD. -- These are my opinions.
