an upated browser (HTML5, websockets, hopefully webasm) should be considered a must,given the the current status of sailfish os echosystem for example, I don't know of any native app that is good for video-chat. at the same time, modern browsers support video-chat pretty-well. with old browser and native apps only, you can not video-chat at all that's only one example...
