Buttons is AVRCP[1]. The basic versions of AVRCP include support for
buttons, that should be easy to implement if it's similar to what
happens on the N900 and N9. There are other, more advanced features of
AVRCP, such as showing the song title, starting with AVRCP 1.3, which
- to my knowledge[2] - has been implemented in BlueZ 4.97, the current
SFOS ships with 4.101, so maybe we can even get AVRCP 1.3 working (for
headsets that support the song title) already.

The N9 implementation of gPodder used D-Bus[3], haven't checked if the
same signals are sent on SFOS.
