I have asked FreeRDP to put out a release before[2], and they've just marked it for "2.0" milestone, whenever that happens... Another option would be to set up the current FreeRDP library as a "compat" package that can be parallel installed with the latest FreeRDP from upstream, which might be possible with some finagling.
