Are there any requirements that the version of a package in say EPEL 5 needs to be less than the version in RHEL6? Since upgrades are not supported between EL versions, I was wondering if this was a requirement or not. Is this noted anywhere? I can't find a particular mention, although I suspect it's implicitly inherited from Fedora. But I wonder if an exception can be made.

Driving this is this bug report:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=997946

asking for environment-modules 3.2.10 in EPEL5. For EL6 it was moved into RHEL and is at 3.2.9c.
