I think you can simplify erlang.spec by using git to apply the patches: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=ocaml.git;a=blob;f=ocaml.spec;h=bbf2669595197077aef7c7aabc1285bb42ed63c2;hb=f3cfaea67e0c750faf3bcd635a756c1a54329c29#l233 ... although that won't allow you to conditionally apply the "Ugly_workaround_for_java_1_5_0_gcj" patch unless you can change the patch to be arch-independent.
