Hello Fedora,
My name is Penn Bauman. I have been using Linux for 8 years, Fedora for
4 year, and I currently use Fedora Silverblue.
I have been packaging several pieces of software in Copr [1] for years
and I think they are ready to be included in mainline Fedora.
My initial goal is to add LF [2] to Fedora.
It is a terminal file manager, very similar to ranger, but written in Go
(so it's much faster).
I think LF is fairly obvious choice for inclusion in Fedora. It's a
mature piece of software already available in Debian and it's fairly
simple to package.
I have been packaging it on Copr for multiple years, my Copr is listed
on the Github wiki for LF [3], and I haven't had any serious issues.
On the technical side, it's a very fairly basic Go binary package, with
only a one dependency not yet included in Fedora.
I have submitted package review requests for lf [4] and
golang-github-xuanwo-locale [5].
Once LF has been added to Fedora, I would like to work on including
Zellij as well.
Zellij [6] is modern, "batteries included" terminal multiplexer written
in Rust with web assembly components.
It is slightly more complex to package and will require adding hundereds
of dependencies to Fedora.
If anyone is interested in sponsoring me to become a packager, please
let me know.
Best,
Penn Bauman
