This is just a note that the pngcheck package[1] has a new upstream[2],
which has been declared official by the old upstream[3].
A new release, 4.0.0, is available. After careful examination of the
changelogs[4] and source diffs, I believe it is correct to treat this as
a compatible bugfix release, with some enhancements to handle additional
features in the PNG image format, despite the incremented major version
number.
The new upstream removed the extra utilities pngsplit and
png-fix-IDAT-windowsize from the repository immediately *after* the
4.0.0 release. I choose to deal with this now, rather than in a future
patch release, by removing and Obsoleting the pngcheck-extras subpackage
that contained them, beginning with Rawhide/F43. I am quite certain that
nothing depended on the removed subpackage.
