Hi, The GNU project `sharutils` raised a question in upstream mailing list if there is still a need for this package. [1]
I identified multiple packages that still depend on sharutils (some of them are crucial for Fedora), so I wanted to raise this question with you and find out if these requirements are really justified or just leftovers from some old forgotten reasons. Here is the list of packages that require sharutils: MagicPoint hylafax+ Singular annobin automake binutils cross-gcc fakeroot frysk gcc gcc14 libarchive mingw-binutils patool perl-Convert-UU perl-Net-FTPServer perl-PDL ppl yara What do you think? Any ideas? Maybe we can deprecate it instead of retiring? Thank you.
