Dear all,

After discussing with Neal (cc:ed as the primary maintainer) we've
decided to clean up the snoopy spec by dropping the compat package that
was meant to provide compatibility scripts when snoopy 2.5 was first
released (the last Fedora release where snoopy was upgraded from 2.4 to
2.5 mid-release was Fedora 38; Fedora 39 shipped with 2.5.1 from the get
go).

Similarly, in EPEL 8 we recommend snoopy-compat, in EPEL 9 we do not
recommend it anymore but have that package available, and in EPEL 10 and
above we will no longer ship a compat subpackage.

Upgrades to F42 on systems with snoopy-compat installed will
automatically result in that package being removed; likewise upgrades
(with LEAPP or ELevate) from an EL9 system to an EL10 one - if anyone
requests snoopy for EPEL 10 - will result in snoopy-compat being
removed.

From F44 onwards and EPEL 11 onwards, we will remove that upgrade path
since the oldest Fedora release with compat (F41) is not upgradable
directly to F44, and likewise LEAPP and ELevate only supports upgrading
one major version at a time.

Best regards,
