I tried raising this one from the dead last year, but changes in crypto-policy have made the use cases I cared about difficult-to-impossible, and I am no longer interested in maintaining this package. Upstream moved on from this project some time ago[1], so anyone taking over the package would need to effectively become the upstream as well.
