Thanks, Liam. I tested GNOME on a Windows host (seemed like the most
likely common configuration, plus I don't have a Mac) and found
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2274930 . It works fine
without 3D passthrough for me. I didn't have time to test KDE
(honestly, also thought it'd be less likely to have issues as I didn't
think it had changed its rendering approach since F39).

GNOME on VMware Player works fine for me with 3D passthrough enabled in
F40 Final, though some folks testing Ubuntu 24.04 have reported issues
