I am aware of that, but it leads to a poor user experience, being notified that
a copying operation has been completed, while in reality, it has not.
As far as I know, every operating system does it the same way, so it's
not as if users should be unaccustomed to dealing with this correctly.
I've told windows users since windows existed that you need to "eject"
the usb drive before taking it out. I don't know if windows syncs more
aggressively though. I haven't actually tested how long it takes to
eject after copying large amounts of data. I think that's something
that can be tuned in Linux.
