Try not to punish yourself. A good friend once completely broke XEmacs by bumping the version number in version.el from "20.0-betaXX" to "20.0". (It turned out that somebody had left in some debugging code that checked for "beta" in the version string, and the else code path disappeared -- the function called had been renamed -- so in most configurations the program fairly quickly crashed. Yikes!) This stuff eventually happens to everybody. Even with CI!
