Arjun brought this up on the musl list as well: <https://www.openwall.com/lists/musl/2020/10/19/1> I'm not sure if there's a clear consensus there. Obviously the core interest lies elsewhere. I do not know how much software deployed using musl actually depends on nscd for enterprise name lookup integration. (The nscd protocol is the only way musl consume these glibc services; it does not have a similar plug-in framework.) I do not view the musl dependency as a significant obstacle to nscd removal.
