Because when they do "git commit" in Ubuntu, it opens up a reasonably user friendly editor (nano). When they do it in Fedora, it opens up a screen they don't even know how to exit (vi). If I were a new user to Linux, it would be clear to me which distribution is for me and which one is definitely not.
